Physical Therapy

Physical therapists are licensed clinicians who examine, diagnose, and treat movement dysfunction. Physical therapy (PT) services help people improve their movement and physical function, manage pain and other chronic conditions, and recover from and prevent injury and chronic disease.

All UHS physical therapists are faculty members in the UW-Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, with specialty practice areas including orthopedics, sports, manual therapy, and chronic pain. UHS does not offer specialized pelvic health PT at this time.

UHS physical therapists collaborate with primary care providers, athletic trainers, mental health providers, medical specialists, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Patients may schedule a UHS PT visit with or without a referral from another health care provider.

More information about physical therapy is available on the ChoosePT website sponsored by the American Physical Therapy Association.
