Costs and Billing
For most services at UHS there is no cost because students pay for UHS services with their segregated fees. There are charges for some UHS services, including most immunizations, physical therapy appointments, orthopedic equipment such as splints and braces, and third-party physicals, and certain lab work and tests connected with those physicals. UHS will bill students if payment is not made at time of service.

Paying your bill
When a UHS service involves a charge, you will receive Statement of Service through MyUHS. Payment is due within 30 days of the service. If you have questions about your statement, please call 608-516-6791 or 608-516-6830.
If payment is not received within 60 days, a hold will be put on your student records, preventing you from registering for classes or receiving transcripts. The hold will be removed once payment is received during regular business hours.
Short term loans may be sought by students when an unexpected life event or circumstance takes place that causes financial hardship.
How to pay

- In person at the Budget & Finance office, 333 East Campus Mall, 8th Floor room 8801, Tuesday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Health insurance
UHS is out-of-network for all health insurance plans except the UW-Madison Student Health Insurance Plan. UHS does not bill insurance, verify insurance coverage, or accept assignment of insurance benefits from insurance plans.
Depending on your insurance plan, you may be able to receive full or partial reimbursement for payments you have made to UHS by submitting a copy of your UHS Statement of Service to your insurance company. You are responsible for contacting your insurance carrier to determine whether UHS services are eligible for full or partial reimbursement under your plan. If you intend to seek reimbursement, we recommend you contact your insurance provider before you receive the service at UHS to ask if it will be covered.
Note: University Health Services is not part of UW Health and does not have any special referral relationship with UW Hospital and Clinics. Students who are referred or transported to any hospital from our clinic, including UW Hospital, are responsible for any emergency room or hospitalization charges.
