Gaonue Vang

Gaonue Vang joined UHS Survivor Services as a survivor advocate in 2023.

Because of the trauma experienced from interpersonal violence, Gaonue is committed to creating safe and caring spaces for all students who come through Survivor Services. She recognizes the complexities of navigating medical, legal, and academic systems and aims to lessen the experiences of harm caused by the barriers and issues these systems create. She is focused on building supportive and trusting relationships with students and navigating each and every situation with compassion. “I approach my work with compassion and curiosity to foster a collaborative relationship with students that allows space for authenticity. It is an honor to walk alongside victims and survivors as they navigating the systems as well as their journey of healing,” Gaonue says of her work.

Outside of work, Gaonue enjoys listening to music, dancing and playing volleyball. She is also exploring music-making, specifically melodic EDM music.
