Neeti joined University Health Services as a Doctoral Psychology Intern in 2024. In this role, Neeti is passionate about working with individuals on identity development, interpersonal concerns, family of origin issues, and life transition or adjustment challenges. She strives to support marginalized communities and has experience working with undocumented immigrants, refugees, indigenous populations, and first-generation individuals.
Neeti notes, “As a South Asian woman and child of immigrants, I have observed in my own community the intersection that various identities can have with mental health. I am aware of the pervasiveness of mental health stigma and challenges of oppressive systems. Consequently, I firmly believe that identity variables like race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic class, and ability impact mental health in nuanced ways. Personally, I continuously self-reflect on how my own identity impacts my work with clients. Professionally, my training experiences at an inpatient hospital center and multiple college counseling centers have prepared me to work with diverse populations on a broad range of concerns.”
Outside of work, Neeti enjoys trying new restaurants, running, hiking, traveling, and watching reality TV.
