Meet the Panelists

Claire Volkert

Claire Volkert

Claire is a Master of Public Health candidate at UW-Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health. She earned her B.A. in Community and Global Public Health from the University of Michigan. Currently, she serves as a Violence Prevention Project Assistant at UHS, where she coordinates online sexual violence prevention programming and evaluates feedback to improve outreach and impact. Previously, Claire contributed to trauma and mental health research at The BRAVE Research Collaborative, where she engaged local families with children ages 10-16 in research studies. She is passionate about fostering collaboration to tackle pressing public health challenges. Outside of work, Claire enjoys discovering live music and visiting bookstores.

Ava Gelling

Ava Gelling

Ava is a recent graduate from UW-Madison with a B.S. in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. While at UW-Madison, she conducted research as a member of the Social Kids Lab and advanced student mental health initiatives through her role on the Mental Health Student Advisory Board at UHS. Since graduating, Ava has dedicated her time to supporting children and families by volunteering at child advocacy centers, including Safe Harbor and Canopy Center. This fall, she will be moving to New York City to begin a PhD program in Counseling Psychology. Ava is passionate about promoting mental health and supporting children and families through research and clinical work.

Jason

Jason Sinaga

Jason is a recent graduate with a degree in Computer Engineering, currently working as a research intern with the Laboratory for Printed Electronics and Sensors in the Mechanical Engineering Department. This fall, Jason will begin a PhD program in Computer Engineering, where he hopes to further explore his passion for cutting-edge technology and research. Outside of academics, he enjoys collecting and reading comic books, playing video games, and rock climbing.

KK Kothe

KK Kothe

KK is a Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Specialist at UHS, dedicated to fostering mental health awareness and support within the campus community. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, KK earned a bachelor’s degree in May 2020 and a master’s degree in May 2024. With a deep passion for uplifting student voices, KK works to create an environment where students feel empowered to prioritize their mental wellbeing and find the resources they need for support.

Jacob Fowler

Jacob Fowler is a first-year master’s student in the Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics Department. Currently, Jacob is working on Techno-Economic Optimization of a Novel Thermal Particle Energy Storage Device in the Energy Systems Optimization Laboratory. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2023. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Jacob has navigated multiple cross-country moves over the past five years, from Colorado to Atlanta, California, and now Madison. Each transition has presented unique challenges and opportunities, shaping his academic and professional journey. Beyond his studies, Jacob enjoys playing piano and hockey, singing, lifting, and exploring all that Madison has to offer.
