Office of Student Assistance and Support

The Office of Student Assistance and Support (OSAS) has resources, tools, and techniques for faculty and staff with student-related concerns, such as “how-to guides” to:

  • Address disruptive classroom behaviors
  • Verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Deal with issues of class attendance
  • Support students through a mental health crisis
  • Assist with students who may be severely disordered or psychotic

The OSAS offers short-term crisis loans for students who experience financial hardship due to unexpected life events. The office also manages hate and bias reporting that can be filed online by instructors or students. If faculty, staff, or TAs are concerned about a student for any reason, they can submit an online Student of Concern Report, email dean@studentlife.wisc.edu, or call 608-263-5700.
