About University Health Services

University Health Services (UHS) is the student health center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

We are dedicated to promoting, protecting, and improving student health and wellbeing by providing high-quality medical, mental health and prevention services for students.

UHS has been continually accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) since 1983, meeting high standards for patient safety and quality care.

University Health Services is not part of UW Health, UW Hospital, or the School of Medicine and Public Health.

UHS At-a-Glance

Who can use UHS services?

All UW–Madison students who are enrolled for credit during a fall, spring, or summer semester and pay segregated fees are eligible to use all UHS services during that academic term.

Is there a cost for UHS services?

Most UHS services are available at no cost to students, including medical and mental health appointments, radiology, laboratory tests, and victim advocacy. There are charges for some services, like immunizations and physical therapy.

Where is UHS located?

UHS has two main clinic locations: our main clinic on East Campus Mall, which offers our full range of services, and our Lakeshore Clinic in Dejope Hall, which offers basic medical care for certain health concerns.

Medical Services

UHS Medical Services treats many common health concerns like colds, upset stomachs, and pink eye. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventive care.

UHS Mental Health Services provides flexible, short-term mental health care in supportive and responsive ways to meet students’ individual needs.

UHS Prevention and Campus Health Initiatives takes a population-level approach to preventing sexual violence, alcohol and drug misuse, and suicide.
