Spouses, Domestic Partners, and Children
If you are eligible for SHIP, you can enroll your spouse, domestic partner, or children, too.
You must register any dependents at the same time you enroll unless there is a “Qualifying Event.” If you miss the enrollment deadline you must wait until your next enrollment period to register any dependents. If the dependent is a domestic partner, both partners must sign a notarized affidavit of their domestic partnership before enrollment.
Children are ineligible for SHIP if they are over the age of 18 and not full-time students as defined by the school. Children over the age of 26 are ineligible for SHIP regardless of their student status.
