Individual Wellness Sessions

As part of UHS’s commitment to enhancing student learning and promoting health, we offer individual wellness sessions. Students may schedule a wellness session because of a general desire to improve their health or because of specific concerns about exercise, low energy, basic nutrition, minor sleep problems, or stress.

During the session, a student meets with a health-orientated psychologist to review their personal habits and to develop a wellness plan. A broad, prospective approach is used to design a personalized plan to fit each student’s needs. A typical session may include:

  • inviting the student to share health goals
  • reviewing the student’s interview form and referral notes
  • identifying health history and current lifestyle
  • discussing interests, schedule, and barriers
  • developing a list of priorities and changes
  • designing a plan to act on
  • referring the student to other UHS staff if needed
  • scheduling follow-up sessions as needed to motivate and track progress

Students interested in a wellness appointment should come to the reception desk of the UHS counseling service (333 East Campus Mall, 7th floor) any time between 9 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, for an Access consultation.
