Random Acts of Kindness
The various features and aspects of human life, such as longevity, good health, success, happiness, and so forth, which we consider desirable, are all dependent on kindness and a good heart.
- The Dalai Lama
Random acts of kindness are just that - acts of kindness toward others, without expecting anything in return.
Some acts of kindness are random - such as those times where you spontaneously reach out to help someone. And some acts require more planning - such as baking cookies or sending flowers to a friend who needs a pick-me-up.
We encourage you to find your own ways to spread kindness, and inspire others to do the same.
How are random acts of kindness part of your personal wellness?
Because when you pass on kindness, the person you're being kind to benefits from your help, and you feel good for having helped them.

Did you do you have ideas for random acts of kindness? Did someone do something nice for you? Tell us about it!
And that's just the beginning. One random act of kindness can spark a chain-reaction of acts of kindness throughout the community.
So how do you begin?
Once you realize how easy it is, you'll start doing it all the time. Measure your success in thank yous and smiles.
Here are a few ideas to get you started thinking:
- Give up your seat on the bus to someone else.
- Help a student if they drop their belongings.
- Buy the person behind you in line a cup of coffee.
- Smile and say good morning!
- Give someone a flower "just because."
- Bake and bring cookies to class.
- Send someone an encouragement or thank you card.
- Give a stressed friend a massage.
- Shovel a neighbor's sidewalk.
- Help someone move.
- Donate! Used clothes, food, or blood.
