What to Expect at a Primary Care Appointment
Appointments are required for Primary Care visits. Call 608-265-5600 for an appointment. If you have an appointment in the Primary Care Clinic, come to the UHS building at 333 East Campus Mall on the 5th floor.
Go to the 5th floor waiting room and check in with the receptionist, or use the Self Check-In Kiosk. A medical assistant will call your name and bring you into a clinic room. He or she will:
- check your vital signs
- ask if you are on any medications
- ask if you have any allergies
- ask your smoking status
- ask the reason for your visit
The clinician will then continue your exam. He or she will order any tests, labs, or x-rays necessary, and guide you appropriately. There is no need to check out at the receptionist desk unless tests are being ordered or you need to make a follow-up appointment.
