Physical Therapy

Please note: Physical therapy appointments will not be available during the summer. Last day for appointments is May 18.

UHS offers both Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainer services to address musculoskeletal problems that students may experience.

Physical therapy (PT) can be helpful for a wide range of conditions, such as low back pain, joint and soft tissue injuries, and repetitive stress disorders, as well as following surgery. Physical therapists develop a plan of care tailored to each patient’s goals. UHS has specialists in sports PT, spine and back PT, and women’s health. (UHS Physical Therapy does not offer wound care or hydrotherapy.)

UHS Physical Therapy services are located on the 5th floor of 333 East Campus Mall and are available by appointment only.

Patients may be referred to UHS PT by their UHS health care provider or by an outside health care provider; or they may request an appointment without a referral. In the State of Wisconsin, a prescription or referral from a health care provider is not required to see a physical therapist.

Physical Therapy services are not covered by the Student Health Fee.

Current charges are:
Initial visit: $75
Return visit: $45

These charges are fully covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Non-SHIP members should check with their individual health insurance before receiving services to determine whether UHS PT services are eligible for reimbursement. See Costs and Billing for more information.

No-Show/Late Cancellation Fee

Physical Therapy appointments must be cancelled a minimum of 48 hours in advance. If you cancel with less that 48 hours notice or fail to keep an appointment, you will be charged a $25 no-show/late cancellation fee.
