McBurney Disability Resource Center
The McBurney Center serves UW-Madison students with a physical, learning, sensory or psychological disability substantially affecting a major life activity. McBurney students are eligible for a variety of resources such as alternative testing, taped textbook information, note-taking services, electronic media services, and more.
GUTS: Greater University Tutorial Service
GUTS is a volunteer tutoring organization that provides free tutoring to all students attending UW-Madison. Go to drop-in hours or schedule a time and day for a group tutoring session. Improve your grades, study habits, and conversational English.
The Writing Center
An individual appointment with a writing instructor can help make your college papers more successful. Go to the Writing Center for guidance in incorporating research, organizing long papers, citing sources, and proofreading professional documents such as application essays, resumes, and cover letters. The Writing Center also provides free, noncredit writing classes.
DoIT Software Training for Students
Free training is available at DoIT for enrolled UW-Madison students. Classes vary from basic desktop applications to advanced Web design. Classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. DoIT also offers computer workshops and short courses for a greater variety of computing/programming training topics for a fee.
Technology Learning Centers
The Technology Learning Centers offer a variety of academic programs including peer education workshops, and Microsoft Excel workshops tailored for chemistry students.
Make an appointment with your TA or professor!
They are almost always willing to go over tests, lecture notes, and assignments.
If you’re having trouble with a particular subject, check with the appropriate academic deparment to see if they have their own tutoring services.
